Campus shooting reported at Northern Arizona University

Another shooting on a college campus was reported early this morning at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff.

One student was killed and three more were hospitalized, according to university officials.

The shooter, an 18-year-old freshman at NAU, was identified and taken into custody by campus police.

The reason for the shooting is still unknown, however national news outlets are reporting that two groups of students were fighting outside one of the residence halls and one student shot the others with a handgun.

This incident marks the tenth shooting on a college campus this year, immediately following the mass shooting at a community college in Oregon last week.

Students at Arizona public schools are prohibited from carrying guns on campus, with limited exceptions.
