As conservatives fight for the White House and Congress this year, efforts to identify and turn out conservative voters are in high gear…literally.
If you tune into any NASCAR Nationwide series race this season you will see the American Majority Racing PledgeToVote.com car #81 competing for the checkered flag.
The car, driven by 2011 Toyota All-Star Champion and former NASCAR K&N Series Champion Jason Bowles, is the on-track component to an unprecedented effort to educate Americans about how smaller government and less spending will “Keep American Free.”
American Majority Racing is a national program of American Majority, one of the nation’s leading conservative grassroots training organizations. The program is designed to target millions of NASCAR fans from all political backgrounds in an effort to engage them in the electoral process.
American Majority has teamed up with NASCAR driver Jason Bowles (@bowlesjason) and MacDonald Motorsports for the 2012 NASCAR Nationwide Series racing season and has high hopes for the impact the initiative will exert on the political process.
“Our message is simple – entrenched politicians, the media, and Hollywood have had a louder voice in shaping the future of this nation than the American people for far too long. The time has come to put Americans back in the driver’s seat,” said Ned Ryun, President of American Majority. “This program will engage more Americans in the political process to “Keep America Free” from the triple threat of big government, massive debt and over taxation.”
NASCAR fans make a natural target for conservatives who want to increase engagement and turnout. Statistics have shown that while NASCAR fans strongly tend towards the political right and generally vote in higher numbers than the national average, there is still significant room for improvement.
This week you can find American Majority staff and an army of volunteers at the “Worlds Fastest Half-Mile” in Bristol, Tennessee. Their vendor-row booth is decked out with racing simulators, the #81 show car, opportunities to win racing tickets and a chance to get autographs from #81’s driver, Jason Bowles.
The centerpiece of the program and the focus of the track-side operation is to register voters and get voters to pledge to vote for candidates who will keep America free. The vendor row setup will be at races in battleground states across the country in the coming months and the online push will continue through the entire season.
This week American Majority Racing announced a special partnership with Honor and Remember to promote a new national symbol honoring the brave servicemen and women who have given their lives to protect our freedoms. The Honor and Remember emblem will be displayed on car #81 throughout the racing season.
Today you can watch Jason Bowles as he and car #81 head to the front of the pack on ESPN2 starting at 2:00 PM EST. You can also follow Jason on Twitter or connect with American Majority Racing online through www.AmericanMajorityRacing.com.
