While many claim former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton making a run for the White House in 2016 is a victory for women, Arianna Huffington is arguing just the opposite. The editor-in-chief of The Huffington Post thinks that by not sticking to her commitment to slow down, she is “sending a bad message to women.”
“She’s [Clinton] obviously running,” Huffington said during an interview on Sunday’s “This Week with George Stephanopoulos. “But what I was hoping is that she would have taken to more time to become what she called herself, untired.”
Clinton originally said she wanted to take a break from her career in politics and rest so she could become “untired.” Untired is not actually a real word.
“She wanted to sleep in,” Huffington said during the show. “To be able to recharge herself. She hasn’t given herself that time. And I think that’s sending a bad message to women that the only way to succeed, the only way to run is to drive yourself into the ground.”
“After all she collapsed, she had a concussion,” Huffington continued. ” And right now you see a greater debate among corporations among corporations, among individuals, how can redefine success? How we can actually reduce stress and burnout? Which is having a terrible impact on our health care system.”
Back in December, Clinton fainted from dehydration and had a concussion, just days before she was scheduled to testify before the House Foreign Affairs Committee on the Benghazi terrorist attack.
