Stephen Colbert hilariously forces ‘Alpha House’ creator Garry Trudeau to explain online video streaming

Stephen Colbert really doesn’t understand the process of streaming video from Amazon.com. Good thing Alpha House creator Garry Trudeau can explain it to him.

Trudeau, who is also the cartoonist famous for the comic strip Doonesbury, was Colbert’s special guest on Tuesday night’s episode of The Colbert Report. But the online format of Trudeau’s show — which was based on the actual Capitol Hill residence of three Democratic members of Congress — was more than the host could comprehend.

And he hilariously and awkwardly forced Trudeau to explain it to him.

“The way you get this show — it’s a TV show — what TV channel do I watch it on?” Colbert asked.

“You can’t,” Trudeau responded. “It’s streaming video.”

“So when do I watch it?” Colbert pressed. “What time is it on?”

“It’s on whenever you want to watch it,” the guest said.

“Ok, is it on now?” Colbert queried.

“It’s on now,” Trudeau said. “You could — ”

“I can’t, because I’m interviewing you,” Colbert exclaimed. “I’ve missed it!”

The exchange continued for quite some time, and Trudeau finally asked if he was really going to have to explain it all to the host. Yes, he was.

Watch the funny exchange below. It begins about at about 3:38.
