Cue Sens. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) and Rand Paul (R-Ky.), there’s a new item to add to the annual list of wasteful government spending.
Geek.com reported on Monday that the Transport Security Administration spent an astronomical $1.4 million for a simple app that randomly picks a left or right arrow when you touch the center of an iPad.

A randomizer app is one of the easiest things a coder can create, and it’s often one of the first things they’re trained to do when learning the process of coding.
For the development of the simple randomizer app alone, the TSA spent at least $336,413.59. In response to a Freedom of Information Act request, the government agency revealed that the total contract with IBM for the app project was $1.4 million, but it did not break down what the remaining money was used for.
Geek.com estimated that the actual cost for the creation of such an app is really only a few thousand dollars.
