“30 Rock” actor – and former MSNBC host – Alec Baldwin has taken back his comments about Martin Bashir’s continued employment at the progressive news channel, tweeting Sunday that he’s glad Bashir “is still on” the air.
The actor also proclaimed that he’s glad Bashir is still on the air because of the “100’s of hours of aggressive content” he broadcasts, and that making comments like suggesting that someone defecate in another person’s mouth on a cable news network was “bound to happen.”

Baldwin was fired last Tuesday over homophobic comments he made about a New York Post reporter off-camera. He was in the middle of serving a two-week suspension for the comments at the time. Bashir, whose show airs weekdays at 4:00 p.m. eastern, is on the hot seat after suggesting that someone defecate in former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s mouth on-air last month. Bashir later apologized to the 2008 vice presidential nominee, but wasn’t reprimanded for his comments.
