[WATCH] Video compares government overspending to kids stealing all of their parents’ cash

You wouldn’t give a kid $1 trillion, so why are we giving politicians in Washington that much money to play with? That’s the question the group Bankrupting America evokes in their newest video “Krunk with Kash.”

“Last year Washington overspent by $1,000,000,000,000,” a caption on the screen reads. “Now politicians claim they can’t cut anything? But we found some questionable spending.”

In the video, a young boy looking like a baller, wearing kicks and some sweet shades, asks his mom for his allowance. She tells him to just look in her wallet. The boy then lifts the entire contents of his mother’s purse and makes it rain with all her cash — which is not so different from how Congress spends our tax dollars.

When the boy literally flushes dollar bills down the toilet, the caption reads, “$222,000” for  “renovating the Interior Secretary’s personal bathroom,” and when he makes himself a money sandwich, the caption reads, “$80,000,000” for “Amtrak’s yearly loss for food and drinks.”

According to the video, “that could buy 28,700,000 sandwiches.”

The boy’s mother is obviously not happy to discover that her son spent all of her hard-earned money — just like how taxpayers feel when they learn Congress spends all their money.

Bankrupting America, the organization that released the video, is an educational project that reveals the negative effects public policy can have on our economy.
