No matter what President Obama’s popularity level might be in the U.S., the POTUS is apparently likable enough internationally to be used in a Polish cellular phone advertisement.
Plus, a Polish communications company, released the ad, featuring the President flying on Air Force One and receiving a special Plus package mid-flight. ‘Oba ma’ in Polish means ‘he has both,’ a clever play on words the company used to advertise its smartphone and tablet deal.
When presented with both devices, the fake Obama — who is not actually shown on camera — receives a call on the cellphone and has a conversation, apparently with whomever has sent this gift.
According to Buzzfeed, the general translation means:
– Yes.
– Smartphone ma? (not a particularly correct way to say: do you have a smartphone?)
– Yes.
– Tablet ma? (again, not a really nice way to ask: do you have a tablet?)
– Yes.
– So, what do you say?
– Dziekuję – Thank you (with a strong American accent).
Now there really is an Obamaphone.
