Ted Cruz expands efforts to appeal to millennials

As Ted Cruz may be making gains on Donald Trump, he’s also doing more to appeal to millennials. On Friday, the same day he spoke at CPAC, Cruz appeared at a College Republicans National Committee event nearby. He announced the expansion of the Millennials for Cruz Coalition National and State level leadership.

Cruz also spoke of the kind of influence millennials have:

I am inspired and encouraged to have so many young men and women rise up to advocate for this campaign across the country. The millennial generation is the largest voting block in America, and must not be ignored. College students and young adults are waking up to the effect Washington will have on their future. Together we will say enough is enough. Enough with spending the United States into trillions of dollars of debt, and enough with job stagnation.

He also recorded a more detailed message for millennials, speaking as a Washington outsider, focusing on the economy and constitutional liberties as they apply to college campuses. He also made a Star Wars reference, saying the “Empire will strike back.”

Speaking with FoxBusiness.com that same day, he spoke once more of a promise likely to impress millennials. Under a Cruz administration, they will be able to get jobs.

Such initiatives include abolishing ObamaCare, the IRS, and by adopting a flat tax.

Cruz is certainly on to something in appealing to millennials. If he were to become the nominee and face off against Hillary Clinton he may have a shot at earning the youth vote. Millennials have largely gravitated towards Bernie Sanders. Despite her many Super Tuesday wins, and with large margins, Hillary has so far only won young voters in Alabama, with 52 percent.
