No matter how hard Trevor Noah tries, he just can’t quit Tomi Lahren.
On Wednesday night, the Daily Show host invited the conservative firebrand millennial, who hosts the show “Tomi” on The Blaze, to discuss a range of subjects from Donald Trump winning the 2016 election, Black Lives Matter, and Colin Kaepernick’s protest of the American flag.
“Why are you so angry?” Noah asked Lahren to open the 26-minute long conversation.
Lahren, who’s a Red Alert 30 under 30 winner, dismissed that notion, saying, “Sometimes people just need to be called on their sh*t.”
Noah continued to bring up hot topics like her support for Donald Trump and how she reacted to #Pussygate. Lahren tweeted after the incident her continuing to back the Republican nominee without mentioning Trump’s name, rather writing her support of his running mate Mike Pence.
There were some uncomfortable moments for both Lahren and Noah, who seemed to tip toe around getting into a full-on shouting match. Yet, despite the differences that exist between the two, the conversation remained civil, and there were even some comedic moments too.
“You consider yourself a conservative?” Noah asked.
Lahren replied, “I do. I mean I’m a millennial I don’t really like labels, but yes I’m a conservative in thought.”
“Sorry, my brain,” Noah reacted. “You just gave a label to say you don’t like labels.”
The interview went off the rails a bit when the discussion came down to Black Lives Matter.
“For somebody who is not racist, you have to spend a lot of time saying, ‘I’m not racist,'” Noah said. “What is your biggest issue with black lives matter? Black Lives Matter has never said go out and shoot people.”
“Because I criticized a black person or the Black Lives Matter movement doesn’t mean I’m anti-black. It doesn’t mean I don’t like black people or that I’m racist,” Lahren retorted. “I don’t see color. I go after Hillary Clinton and she’s as white as they come.”
“You don’t see color? So what do you do at a traffic light?” he joked. “There’s nothing wrong with seeing color, it’s how you treat color that’s important.”
At the end of the interview, Lahren and Noah shook hands without getting in each other’s faces, which is how political discussions should conclude. Hats off to both parties for keeping it civil.
