Apparently only visits from the “Factual Feminist” not self-proclaimed feminists require “safe spaces” and “trigger warnings” at Oberlin College.
It was announced recently that First Lady Michelle Obama will give the commencement speech at Oberlin in late May. The school won the honor of her speech after a video contest about how the college interacts with high schoolers.
But the reception Obama is getting is noticeably different from the one that scholar Christina Hoff Sommers received when she arrived on campus to speak on modern feminism, Campus Reform first noted.
Liberals on campus protested the event and threatened Sommers. Sommers had to be escorted by campus police.
Sommers was called “misogynistic” and a “rape-denier” by the group of students and before her speech they gave an in-person trigger warning and encouraged their fellow students to head to a “ safe space” on campus instead of attending the event.
Oberlin would not comment on “safe spaces” for Obama’s visit to Campus Reform, but there has not been any backlash online, unlike with Sommers controversial visit.
