Taking a break from patrolling Gotham, a costumed Batman — shockingly similar in jawline and build to the Christian Bale iteration — saved a cat from a burning home over the weekend in Milton, W.Va., with an assist from Captain America. The Internet may now explode.
The caped crusaders — John Buckland and Troy Marcum, respectively — were at an event in the home’s neighborhood teaching positive life lessons to children. Upon seeing smoke, they ran toward the fire to see if anyone was inside the house before firefighters arrived. The homeowners fortunately were out of town. The cat, however, was not.
“I’m feeling around, and I’ll be darned if I feel something furry,” Buckland said, describing his actions after Marcum broke out a window. Buckland then grabbed the cat and successfully resuscitated it. Perhaps feeling a touch of antagonism from the Batman Returns days, the cat was not immediately grateful.
“He hissed at me and everything,” Buckland continued. “He got resuscitated by Batman. That’s a pretty scary thing to wake up to.”
