In a letter sent from a regional branch of Planned Parenthood to a North Dakota news station Monday, the abortion provider warned reporters against airing the recently released undercover footage of employees discussing the sale of aborted fetal body parts.
The letter, sent Monday just before a third video was released, was addressed to “North Dakota Health and Political Reporters and Producers” from “Jen Aulwes, Planned Parenthood, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota.”
KVLY-TV in North Dakota released the letter on their site that same day:
When your network decides whether to consider this story newsworthy, or whether to use any of this footage at all, we urge you to keep this in mind: The extremists who entered Planned Parenthood labs under false pretenses violated research protocol, and, worse, violated the privacy of patients involved. Those patients’ privacy should not be further violated by having this footage shared by the media.”
The videos released by Center for Medical Progress depict Planned Parenthood employees and executives discussing the sale of the aborted fetus’ body parts and calls into question the legality of the act. While Planned Parenthood is maintaining their innocence legally speaking, they are also turning the tables on the activists who created the video, saying that they are the ones who did something illegal.
Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards said the “most disgusting part” is not her employees talking about what price they can get for the organs of a fetus, but the people who gained access to the clinics and secretly filmed the transactions.
The Department of Justice has also said that they will investigate not the “medical professionals” crudely discussing the aborted fetus’ money value, but the group who exposed the unethical and barely known act.
