[WATCH] This is going all-out to advertise a beater of a used car

There is luxury in a Bentley, speed in a Ferrari, comfort in Bugatti.

“For everything else, there’s this 1996 Nissan Maxima; aged 17 years.”

Sometimes the lead of a story writes itself.

A Florida man selling his Nissan is using Craigslist to sarcastically tout the junker through text, poster advertising, and an original YouTube clip. The vehicle, listed for $900, “will make magic happen,” the seller writes.

“This pavement-yacht has a ride as smooth as a Pegasus’ backside,” the text of the Craigslist ad reads. “This Maxima no longer needs to let the odometer tell it how far it has gone – it has chosen a path of greatness and valor and refuses to let silly numbers determine its life!”

The Maxima has 160,000 miles on it, the ad states.

Craigslist is often a forum for humorous text advertising, whether for used cars, roommates, or even used roommates, but the promotional posters and video for the vehicle make this seller no ordinary used car salesman. Example:

And the YouTube clip, which features professional-quality narrating, a humorous script, and ace filmmaking unbefitting such a beater, is just tremendous. The seller, who identifies himself as video producer Luke Aker on his personal website, wrote in a blog post that he shot the commercial over the course of two weekends.

“Overall the project was a pretty big (relative) success.”

Although he uploaded the video in late September, the Craigslist ad posted today — and featured on Reddit — has helped boost its view count and pushed it toward virality. Check it out below.
