You are a man who knows how to give out promises. In fact, during your 2008 campaign you dished out to the American people an astounding 500 promises that you would fulfill while in office. Boy you must have been working really hard these last few years.
But unlike most Americans, I actually do my homework when it comes to politics and I regret to inform you that you haven’t lived up to all of those promises. But thankfully I outlined a few of your broken promises, from unemployment to college tuition, as I know you will go about fixing them right away.
First, you said that you would make college more affordable so that more Americans could get a degree and achieve better paying jobs. But instead, college tuition on average has increased 25 percent and on top of that, half of new college graduates are living at home because they can’t find a job out of college.
You promised us that you would create more jobs and you would lower our nation’s unemployment rate to under six percent if the economic stimulus was passed. The economic stimulus was passed but unfortunately the national unemployment rate is still near eight percent and the unemployment rate for my generation is 16 percent. Add this on top to the $16 trillion deficit and that is a big hole to dig out of especially considering that you added $6 trillion to that deficit over the last three and a half years.
You promised increased national security but based on what I’m seeing, I don’t know if this is occurring. But you are a president who is a foreign policy expert so I have no worries. I mean at least you weren’t the president that went around apologizing to other nations about how terrible the American people have acted in the past. Or at least you aren’t the president that refuses to meet with Israel’s prime minister because you are too busy hanging out with Hollywood elites. Or at least you aren’t the president that is cutting thousands of defense jobs because you and your friends in Washington can’t seem to cut any money from a $3.7 trillion budget.
Or wait, are you that president?
But I’m sure you will promptly take care of these issues before re-election because who needs to campaign when you have delivered on so many of these promise? Because of this I’m sure your re-election bid is safely in hand.
May I add that always playing golf doesn’t really seem to fix our nation’s problems; maybe you should try a new sport like basketball. Oh wait, I forgot you already tried that sport too.
And finally, when January 20th 2013 comes around, please don’t let the Oval Office door hit you on the way out.
Looking forward to never hearing a response,
Mike Garcar
