‘House of Cards’ star Michael Kelly ‘would love’ to see Bill Clinton make a cameo

Hollywood sure loves the Clintons.

“House of Cards” star Michael Kelly in an interview with The Hill at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner late last month said that he would “love” to see Bill Clinton land a cameo role on the Netflix political drama.

“Bill Clinton,” Kelly, who plays political aide Doug Stamper on the show, replied when asked about his preferred cameo actor. “Or the Obamas. Either the Clintons or the Obamas, I would love.”

“I love [MSNBC host] Chris Matthews, but I already did something with Chris Matthews on ‘The Good Wife,'” Kelly added.

Bill Clinton, an avid “House of Cards” fan and friend to star Kevin Spacey, would undoubtedly jump at the opportunity to appear on the show — especially if they offered him some money to do so. After all, he’s got to pay the bills.

Kelly supposed that Clinton would be a “pretty good actor” on the show. Of course, the former president wouldn’t need to do to much acting, considering he maintains that 99 percent of “House of Cards” is accurate.

“I think Bill Clinton’s probably a pretty good actor,” Kelly hypothesized. “I think he could probably do anything. I mean, it would be kind of hard, the whole willing suspension of disbelief, to not see him as Bill Clinton. But maybe he could come on and be Bill Clinton. That’d be pretty cool.”

And who is Kelly’s choice candidate ahead of the 2016 presidential election?

“It seems as if Hillary is going to get the nomination,” the actor said. “And I’d knock on doors for her. I like her a lot.”

“House of Cards” just released its third season in February and the program has already been renewed for a fourth season. Perhaps Bill will make his debut when that season airs in 2016.
