If Mary Poppins get her sought-after minimum wage hike, Bert is going to be out of a job. That’s the thrust of a video produced by Remy of ReasonTV, in response to Funny or Die’s raise-the-wage parody video featuring Kristin Bell as a cash-strapped Mary Poppins.
“You’re forgetting (Sarah Marshall) unintended consequences of these laws,” a disheartened Bert croons, after he has been replaced at his now higher-paying job by a machine.
“Just 3 pages of econ and perhaps your mind will change,” he continues, extolling the economic benefits which result “when free people engage in voluntary exchange.”
Apparently, Mary’s minimum wage hike is no jolly holiday for Bert.
