[WATCH] Ron Burgundy sings Rob Ford’s campaign theme song

Rob Ford has a new ally in broadcast media, and his voice is just as important as his yazz flute.

Will Ferrell appeared in character as Ron Burgundy on Wednesday night’s Conan and vouched for his “dear, dear friend” and “outstanding individual,” Toronto Mayor Rob Ford.

“He’s controversial because he’s so damn honest,” Burgundy said.

The legendary, fictitious TV anchor said that Ford’s brother asked him to help out the mayor’s reelection race by performing a ‘campaign theme song’ on Conan O’Brien’s show, and Burgundy picked a fitting tune from a Canadian outfit: “Working for the Weekend” by Calgary-based Loverboy. With a touch of his own improvised lyrics, Burgundy sang:

Everybody’s workin’ for the weekend
Everybody wants a new romance
Everybody’s goin’ off the deep end — don’t do anything stupid, Rob!
Everybody needs a second chance

And no Ron Burgundy musical number would be complete without a jazz (really soft-j) flute solo, which you can watch, along with the rest of the clip, below.
