Chelsea Clinton, Jimmy Kimmel launch campaign to get young people into national service

Chelsea Clinton and Jimmy Kimmel teamed up Monday night to promote a new initiative geared toward getting young people hyped about national service.

Clinton and Kimmel launched the campaign, called “Serve a Year,” in partnership with Service Nation in order to encourage Millennials to dedicate themselves to a year of service in their communities after high school or college.

“The real idea behind ‘Serve a Year’ is that, just like we all talk about where we went to high school, where we went to college, young people in America talk about where they did their service,” explained Clinton Monday. “And we have so many challenges … and we know that national service can help solve all of those challenges that we face and provide a pathway to employment for young people.”

The daughter of Hillary and Bill Clinton insisted that the initiative will “empower the next generation.”

Chelsea then tried out her comedic talents (Warning: she doesn’t seem to have any) when she and Kimmel starred in a fake “Serve a Year” public service announcement.

The initiative has apparently won over Hollywood, as television and Internet programs will join Kimmel in promoting the campaign, according to The Hill.
