Progressives around the world have one common enemy: masculinity. They hate guys who embrace manliness, and they’ll do anything to both apologize for their gender and promote effeminate men.
Their latest efforts come in the form of “cat men,” guys who love cats and aren’t afraid to admit it.
ABC Australia reported on Sunday that cat men are on the rise. Guys were abandoning their dogs for felines and embracing their more feminine side. Dr. Heather Fraser, senior lecturer in social work at Flinders University, said that the emerging trend of cat men shows that old gender norms are dying.
Men who own cats instead of dogs tend to be metropolitan, embrace alternative lifestyles, and make more money.
More importantly for progressives like Fraser, owning cats may move men away from “toxic masculinity,” which is apparently responsible for violence and mass shootings.
“I like to see men defying the narrow straight-jackets of the ‘he-men’ of the past,” the senior lecturer said to ABC Australia.
Social media has also been promoting the idea that cats can enhance a man’s style and life. The Instagram account Hot Dudes with Cats has more than 70,000 followers.
“Hot Dudes with Cats” has the same kind of false advertising as Marlboro. Own a cat and you could look like this hipster with a six-pack. Smoke this cigarette, and you too can feel like a cowboy.
Fraser’s belief that men are moving towards cats because they’re embracing a more feminine side may be a stretch. Young people live in apartments now, which makes owning a dog difficult. Cats are less maintenance. They don’t require being walked several times a day, they have no problem being alone, and they are cold.
Technically, there’s nothing wrong with a man owning a cat instead of a dog. Guys can own fanny packs too. Both are just frowned upon.
Liberals attempt to romanticize guys who own cats is just another one of their efforts to make effeminate men look appealing.
