134 – 52 is easy math, until Common Core gets involved

134-52. It only took Caleb Bonham 12 seconds to do this math problem the “old school” way.

But under the guidance of the new Common Core standards that hope to revolutionize the way math is taught, simple arithmetic can become a poor man’s calculus.

Bonham, editor-in-chief at Campus Reform, hit the streets to show others this new method of subtraction. The method includes columns, rows, dots — to make it simpler, of course.

The method’s reception from folks on the street was icy.

“It’s completely inefficient. You’re wasting time,” said one individual.

“I don’t like it at all,” another one said bluntly.

Most importantly, it’s #nothippyapproved, as noted a girl sporting a red hairdo and a hipster outfit.
