Ben Carson debuts as stand-up comedian in the GOP Debate

Carson, in an apparent effort to discard his title as “the most boring person running for president,” has tried to inject humor into his debate responses.

At least Carson makes himself laugh.

He opened up with a joke in his first response.

“I’m happy to get a question this early on. I was gonna ask you to wake me up when the time came,” Carson said.

Twitter users were quick to make jokes about Carson.

The attempt made Carson look more self-aware of his public image, but the auditorium filled with laughter that was motivated by pity more than sincerity.

For his second response, Carson grabbed time off another skirmish.

During a three-way back-and-forth among Chris Christie, Marco Rubio, and Jeb Bush, Carson asked for more time.

“Neil, I was mentioned too,” he said.

“You were?” Moderator Neil Cavuto asked.

“Yes, he said ‘everybody,’” Carson said.

For now, Carson will attempt to stay woke, for his fans and for the country.
