Updated: Siri hearts Ron Paul, but the Congressman makes a jab at iPhone assistant

Libertarians and Ron Paul fans, rejoice: Siri is a liberty-lover, too.

The automated personal assistant housed within the iPhone can tell you all sorts of things, and Siri even knows where she stands politically. When asked what her political views are, Siri responds with the Wikipedia page of former Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas).

A whole host of iPhone users on the Libertarian subreddit tried it for themselves and found that it worked. Siri didn’t vote for Paul in either the 2008 or 2012 elections, though, because she can’t vote on this planet.

She would, however, love a Ron Paul sticker from the 2008 election, Siri told Red Alert Politics.

Though some skeptics argued Siri’s answer could be tied to one’s search history, one man reset his iPhone back to its factory settings and got the same answer. He even made a video about it.

Apple has not issued a statement on the liberty-loving robot’s political views and did not return Red Alert Politics’ request for comment by the time of publication.

Paul, however, chimed in on the situation. He tweeted a photo of the Siri screenshot on Tuesday and commented that she had a “brief moment of political enlightenment.”

The former Republican and many companies in the tech industry share the same views on Internet privacy.

Paul and his son, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), launched a campaign last year advocating for Internet freedom and pushing to save the world wide web from the overreaching arms of government. The father-son duo have been ardent opponents of legislation aimed to squander Internet freedoms, from the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) to the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA).
