Congressman Steve Scalise (R-La.) called out President Obama for allowing his big spending, big government agenda to ruin the country.
“Obama is FDR on steroids,” he said, adding that if Americans need only to look at the president’s home state of Illinois if they want a preview of what Obama’s policies will do to the nation as a whole.
He called the president the ‘Anti-Innovator in Chief,’ noting that Obama’s unwillingness to move forward on pro-growth issues and reforms, like the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline throughout America’s heartland, is costing the country more than 25,000 ‘shovel-ready’ jobs.
Scalise also attacked Obama for shoving his comprehensive healthcare reform law down the throats of hardworking Americans, arguing that the law has overburdening businesses and killed economic growth. “Everybody in here deserves a waiver, it’s called a repeal of Obamacare,” he said.
He believes that the American dream is turning into something completely estranged from the hard work and determination of past generations.
“If you Google the American dream, you don’t see some federal building in Washington, D.C.,” he said. It is not up to Congress to legislate Americans out of trouble, but instead requires a massive cultural shift.
Offering encouragement to the crowd, Scalise reminded everyone that conservatives in Congress will continue to fight the good fight.
“We aren’t going to let the American dream get away on our watch,” he promised.
