Hillary Clinton is setting herself apart from white-haired challenger Bernie Sanders by emphasizing the fake color of her hair.
The 67-year-old Democratic presidential candidate addressed a cackling crowd of supporters at the South Carolina House Democratic Women’s Caucus and Women’s Council Wednesday, touting the fact that her hair will not turn white in the White House as reason voters shouldn’t fear her old age.
“I’m aware I may not be the youngest candidate in this race, but I have one big advantage,” Hillary joked, referring to the much younger GOP field. “I’ve been coloring my hair for years. So, you’re not going to see me turn white in the White House.”
Notably, President Obama’s hair has become at least 136 percent grayer since he took office in 2009, according to a study conducted last year.
While the audience hollered their approval of Clinton’s joke, they should know that she has used similar references to her hair coloring a couple of times since her campaign rollout, so it wasn’t an original invention for them.
What was original, however, was the subtle but noticeable fake southern accent Clinton used to accent her words during the speech in Columbia, S.C.
