An assortment of communists, socialists and anarchists —  including Metro transit workers, labor union members, Occupy DC and Iranian Communist groups — rallied in Washington Tuesday to mark May Day.

The involved socialist, communist and anarchist groups set up booths in the city’s Malcolm X Park that featured books like “The Communist Manifesto” and  literature about Marxism.

Fourteenth Street was shut down for over two hours and heavy police force was needed to patrol and escort the protest that started in Malcom X Park and ended at the White House.

“1,2,3,4, We declare class war; 5,6,7,8 Smash the system, smash the state,”  the protesters chanted.

The protesters denounced capitalism and verbally harassed the police who had shut down the street to make way for them.

One protest sign even stated, “Osama Bin Laden was right, we were wrong.”  When asked by Red Alert Politics about the sign, the protester responded saying, “The United States was wrong in going after Osama bin Laden.”
