Bill Maher and fellow Comedian Jeff Ross discussed Jerry Seinfeld’s recent comments on the overly-politically correct culture at colleges and how it has hurt comedy on Friday night’s Real Time.
The two agreed with Seinfeld and thought that people today needed to learn to laugh at themselves and not take everything so seriously.
“Comedy is medicine. It’s the best medicine, laughter. You don’t want it watered down. You want it potent. We have a responsibility to shine a light on the darkest aspects of society,” Ross said.
Maher said he wasn’t sure if it was a generational shift or if it was a liberal vs. conservative idea. Maher reiterated his big complaint about liberals being “definitely more PC” than conservatives.
“Comedians shouldn’t have to adapt to the PC. People who are too sensitive should have to become more thick-skinned,” Ross said.
