Jon Stewart predictably poked fun at possible Republican candidates for president in 2016 on Monday’s episode of “The Daily Show,” in particular focusing his energy on Mitt Romney.
He reminded viewers of Romney’s 47 percent comment ahead of the 2012 election and suggested that current GOP candidates for president — like Rick Perry and Ted Cruz — aren’t doing anything to distance themselves from Romney’s previous assertions about deregulation and Obamacare.
“In 2012, if you want to free job creators from the moocher class, the solution is deregulation and repealing Obama’s health plan,” said Stewart. “In 2016, if you want to empower the moocher class, the solution is apparently deregulation and repealing Obama’s health plan.”
“Basically, it’s Republicans’ universal cure,” the comedian continued. “It’s like penicillin if penicillin never cured your chlamydia and just made your doctor really rich.”
