Students hang ‘Build a Wall’ banner, liberals skip class to protest [VIDEO]

Students walked out of class Thursday morning at Forest Grove High School near Portland, Oregon and marched into downtown Portland after two students hung a pro-Trump banner in the cafeteria that offended a majority of the student body.

Students from a handful of nearby high schools joined in protest as well, according to KOIN.

The banner hung inside the Forest Grove High School cafeteria and said “Build a Wall,” likely referencing Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s plans to build a wall at the U.S.-Mexico border to prevent illegal immigration.

The banner caused anger at Forest Grove High School because it has the highest percentage of Latino students in the Portland metropolitan area.

One of the anonymous students who hung the banner wrote in an apology statement that he does not believe in building a wall, but believes in freedom of speech:

On May 18th, I hung a banner in Forest Grove High School that said, “Build a Wall.” I don’t actually believe that a wall needs to be built along our border. I wanted to do something provocative to protest what I see as restrictions on freedom of speech. I was feeling like people weren’t open to discuss sensitive issues, because no matter what is said, no matter what words I used, someone says, “That’s offensive!” I was angry, and I thought this would be a great way to express my belief in freedom of speech.

The two Forest Grove students who erected the banner have been disciplined by the school.
