2014: ‘Starbucks Nation’ versus ‘Chick-fil-a Country?’

“Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd drew a unique comparison Sunday morning to try and explain the make-up of the 2014 midterm elections.

He said 2014 midterms structurally favor Republicans because of the Senate seats at play or as he put it, “It could be advantage to the chicken.”

Todd separated the country into “Starbucks Nation” and “Chick-Fil-A Country.”

Starbucks Nation refers to urban areas that vote Democratic and Chick-Fil-A Country is small town America that typically vote Republican, Todd said.

In 2012, the battleground states were Starbucks areas. Now it’s a Chick-Fil-A dominated landscape.
