Whoopi Goldberg thinks Hillary Clinton’s equal pay hypocrisy stinks.
Goldberg and her fellow hosts on “The View” Tuesday discussed reports that Hillary Clinton paid female staffers in her U.S. Senate office 72 cents for each dollar paid to their male counterparts between 2002 and 2008.
While stylist Stacy London dubbed the revelation “damaging,” Goldberg had a more, well, colorful way of expressing its potency.
“Unless you know what the jobs were, were the men who got paid more in jobs where they earned [more],” she said. “I mean, it’s like a bad fart. You put it out and it wafts and people go, ‘Oh, oh! You did it! You did it!’ Nobody knows because, is anybody telling us who got paid what for what?”
Host Rosie Perez admitted that she — a Clinton fan — was “shocked” by the unpleasant smell.
“We don’t know the exact details,” responded Perez, “but I have to be honest that I — you know, I love Hillary — and I was shocked.”
“This doesn’t look good,” she added.
The Washington Free Beacon first reported Monday that Clinton’s female Senate office employees were paid a median annual salary of $40,791.55 while that for her male staffers was $15,708.38 higher at $56,499.93.
The pay disparity will undoubtedly become problematic as Clinton seeks to win over female voters — and female professionals in particular — ahead of her likely 2016 presidential run.
One thing is for certain: That smell is no “Whoopi” cushion.
