Red Alert Politics editor Francesca Chambers appeared on PBS’ “To the Contrary” this week, arguing that young Americans are not going to buy into Obamacare.
Francesca was joined on the panel by host Bonnie Erbé, Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C.), Genevieve Wood of The Heritage Foundation and Megan Beyer from The Gender Equality Project.
The women discussed the upcoming implementation of Obamacare, with Francesca arguing that young people cannot be relied upon to save the legislation because only a quarter of them even know its exchanges exist. She also pointed out that only 11 percent of young people are sure they are going to buy into Obamacare exchanges.
The panelists also talked about how interracial couples aren’t getting married at the same rate as same-race couples. Francesca argued that younger people in general are less likely to get married, and that it isn’t so much a racial issue as a cultural one.
The “To the Contrary” group discussed a push from Emily’s List, a pro-choice group, for a female president of the United States. Francesca said that the bench of women on the Republican side who could possibly run for president is not as strong as on the Democratic side, simply because the GOP wasn’t as good at reaching out to women in the past.
