The presidency is a zoo

There are images which define a presidency, capture in one instant the feeling of an era, like Reagan standing before the Brandenburg Gate, Clinton hiding behind his index fingers or Bush with his hard hat and bullhorn at Ground Zero. If anything captures the insanity of a president who appears to have given up on his job and who dreams of sitting on a beach somewhere far from the cares of his position but who still manages to be hip enough to retain the affections of the internet generation, it’s probably these.

Note that he would knuckle-touch the metal gorilla.

During the President’s visit to Denver, he stopped to have dinner with a few chosen supporters at the Wazee Supper Club and then wandered down the street to meet the locals and to hand out, as he put it — fittingly — “high fives, fist bumps.” Which is where he encountered the horse mask. Makes one wonder how high some of those fives were.

The shot has at least managed to curry the favor of the fickle internet. John Stanton already tweeted asking if Mitt Romney was inside the horse mask.

Maybe Rick Perry would get more presidential attention if he tried something similar.
