Jon Stewart laughs at Rep. Aaron Schock for resignation announcement

Jon Stewart dedicated plenty of Wednesday’s episode of “The Daily Show” to discussing embattled Illinois Rep. Aaron Schock’s resignation from Congress amid controversy surrounding his use of campaign and official funds.

As Stewart pointed out in an earlier segment, Schock — the first Millennial congressman — was famous for his active Instagram account and his “Downton Abbey” themed office.

“You served two terms in Congress while apparently also competing on ‘The Amazing Race,'” Stewart said Wednesday while skewering the Illinois Republican for choosing to resign because the questions about his spending posed too great a “distraction” for him to do his job.

Stewart of course couldn’t resist poking Schock for his “Downton Abbey” Capitol Hill office, reports about which earlier this year sparked investigations into the congressman’s spending.

“I imagine resigning is the hardest thing Schock will ever have to do, except for perhaps cleaning out his desk,” said Stewart. “Hey, anybody know the best way to bubble wrap pheasant feathers?”

The comedian also featured a separate segment where he spoke to correspondent Hasan Minhaj about what will become of Schock’s interns, who the congressman reportedly took to an out-of-state Katy Perry concert with official money.
