George R.R. Martin’s got a ‘Blank Page, Baby’ in this Nerdist ‘Game of Thrones’ spoof

War, passion, intrigue, sin–all the hallmarks of Game of Thrones. Or is that a Taylor Swift song?

The lines are blurred in Nerdist’s latest parody video,”Blank Page,” where the pop song about doomed relationships starts to sound like one about doomed characters instead.

Author George R.R. Martin croons to Daenerys Targaryen, the seemingly chosen princess. Surely she will be the one to unite the flawed and fighting kingdoms.  After all, she’s a fan favorite and she’s still alive, which at this point in the series, is an accomplishment. But will she stay that way?

“We can’t wait to see you grow,” croons Martin to Daenerys. “Then you’re mowed down with a stray arrow.”

On this blank page, the one in control is Martin, who seems to relish just how many ways his characters can die.

“You could die in a swordfight, or burn in dragon’s flames,” he sings. “Just when you think it’s alright, I cross off another name.”

No one knows what will happen in the next book, but Daenerys’ position in the video looks increasingly precarious.

But you know that Martin loves kingslayers and you love Game of Thrones, so watch the clip below:
