20-year-old’s speech outshines Trump’s at #WCS16 [VIDEO]

Donald Trump was the opening and headlining speaker at this year’s Western Conservative Summit, hosted by the Centennial Institute in Denver, Colorado. Trump, known for firing up crowds, was upstaged later that day by a millennial woman.

Ellen Densmore, a 20-year-old student at Colorado Christian University, won the ‘Under 30 Speech Contest’ at the Western Conservative Summit, co-sponsored by the Centennial Institute and Red Alert Politics. Densmore’s speech focused on educating the next generation about what conservatism means, and why liberals no longer represent liberty. “We ought to only refer to them as the left, because not only do they sit on the left side of the aisle, but also because they have left — abandoned — the principles of liberty,” she said, to loud applause.

The speech had attendees buzzing on Twitter, with multiple comments agreeing she was more exciting than Trump. @Aaron_RS said she was “the highlight of today’s #WCS16 speakers. Far superior to Trump and she is only 20.”

Other suggested they wanted her to replace Trump as the GOP nominee, and that it was unfortunate that she is constitutionally unqualified because of her age.

Whether or not she was better than Trump, attendees agreed that Republicans and conservatives need to promote younger speakers and spokespeople to better persuade the nation about the merits of conservatism.
