While playing the race card is quickly becoming Eric Holder’s favorite tactic for defending corruption, his recent comments about voter ID laws have a number of members in the black community concerned.
Recently, Attorney General Holder referred to voter ID laws as a sign that “some of the achievements that defined the civil rights movement now hang in the balance.”
In response to Holder’s allegations of racism, black conservative leaders Herman Cain and Ken Blackwell have released a video that highlights the duty states have to protect the integrity of their vote.
In the video, Cain’s statement that “it is the right of every American to vote without intimidation,” is nicely juxtaposed with the infamous video of members of the Black Panther Party intimidating voters at a polling place in Pennsylvania in 2008.
Both leaders express concern over Holder’s recent actions, including Holder’s demand that Florida stop removing illegal voters from their voting rolls.
“States should not have to sue the federal government to protect their citizens sacred right to vote,” Cain said. The former Republican Presidential candidate also noted that in order for Holder to do his job properly, he must keep politics out of the Department of Justice.
The Obama re-election campaign has been critical of recent efforts by states to combat voter fraud, taking active efforts to combat what they have referred to as “voter suppression.”
