Jon Stewart spent a good deal of time Tuesday evening bashing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s controversial speech before Congress, saying sarcastically, “Even though Netanyahu was speaking only two weeks before the Israeli elections, he wasn’t there just to use our Congress as the most elaborate campaign commercial background ever.”
He then tore into Netanyahu’s statement that, “I feel I am representing all the citizens of Israel, even those who do not agree with me. A representative of the entire Jewish people.”

“I speak for all Jews!” Stewart mocked him. “Including the ones who don’t want me to! Because those Jews are wrong!”
As for Netanyahu’s apocalyptic predictions about Iran’s alleged nuclear capabilities, “Apparently time was also running out 19 years ago,” Stewart noted, rolling tape of a 1996 Netanyahu warning Congress that “time is running out” to prevent a nuclear Iran.
He also belittled the prime minister for predicting in 2002 that taking down Saddam Hussein would have “enormous positive reverberations” throughout the region.
