Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) sure seems to be having a hard time conceding victory to the Republicans following a recall election in Colorado earlier this week, crying claims of voter suppression as the catalyst for two state senators losing their seats.
The Florida Democrat released a statement following the election alleging the reason Colorado state Sen. Angela Giron (D-Pueblo) and Senate President John Morse (D-Colorado Springs) lost was because of the “vast array of obstacles that special interests threw in the way of voters.” Since then, a host of Democrats from Giron herself to former Obama advisor David Axelrod have echoed Wasserman Schultz’s sentiments.
Both Wasserman Schultz and Giron attributed the Democrats’ losses to efforts by the Koch Brothers and the National Rifle Association, and an inability of people to get the polls since mail-in ballots were not used. Of course, they forgot the massive uprising from Coloradoans in a grassroots initiative to protest Giron and Morse’s support for strict gun control legislation.
It appears Wasserman Schultz and her fellow Democrats will find any excuse for losing an election, so here’s 7 other things she could blame Giron and Morse’s losses in the Colorado recall election on.
1. Voters were higher on the freedom to smoke marijuana than they were on gun control legislation
2. They were busy capitalizing on a Blue Light Special on all things Koch — Brawny paper towels, Vanity Fair napkins, Quilted Northern, Dixie Cups, etc.
3. Democrats were outspent by those greedy, money-grubbing, 1-percent loving Republi…oh wait
4. Giron and Morse didn’t have enough talking points
5. Voters were busy re-igniting their proposal to secede
6. And trolling Rep. Darrell Issa’s (R-Calif.) Instagram for Friday Kitty, an obvious ploy to distract them from voting
7. Coloradoans were too busy praying for a big game from GOP supporter Peyton Manning, leading their beloved Broncos to victory
