Democrat website jokes on Romney tax plan, ignores Obama’s own lack of transparency

The Democratic National Committee recently created a clever little website which purports to allow you to see the details of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan’s tax plan. When the user moves his mouse over the button that reveals the plan, the button moves away, implying that Romney and Ryan are attempting to hide the details of their tax plan.

Of course, the irony is that they DNC expects us to forget that Barack Obama encouraged lawmakers to not reveal too many details about their plans prior to the 2010 elections and that former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi insisted that we had to pass Obamacare to find out what was in it.

The real burden of the government isn’t how much it takes in taxes, but how much it spends. A candidate’s tax plan simply determines who pays for it, and unfortunately can become a source of class warfare. Much more important than how the government gets revenue is how it spends its money.

The Democratic-controlled Senate hasn’t passed a budget in more than three years, and the Federal Government continues to spend $1.1 trillion more than it takes in every year. The greatest threat to America’s future comes not from those overseas who hate America, but those in Washington, DC who purport to be acting in our best interests.

I speak of course about our national debt. Social Security and Medicare are insolvent. They will likely bankrupt the country if they are permitted to continue as we know them. Our generation will receive less than what we pay into Social Security, if we get anything back at all. Red tape and regulations cost entrepreneurs $46 billion a year. Democrats in the Executive and Legislative branches seem unwilling to acknowledge these problems, let alone address them.

Barack Obama entered the White House promising to tackle America’s problems, but instead has punted the football. Despite Obama’s promise to cut our deficit in half, it is still above $1 trillion as the total national debt has surpassed $16 trillion. Whoever is President on January 21st will inherit possibly the greatest fiscal mess in this nation’s history. There is no reason to believe that Obama will not continue to pursue his flawed and disproven ideology that prosperity and justice can be achieved only through an overly-powerful government with no limits on how much it spends.

It is absurd for Democratic lawmakers to attack a campaign for failing to release enough details of his future plans when they have been unwilling or unable to release the details their current job requires them to. Both across the Atlantic and in states such as Illinois and California, we have seen the results of lavish public sector spending and a productive private sector whose continued ability and willingness to foot the bill is taken for granted.

It is only when voters recognize the cliff we are approaching and demand solutions from lawmakers in both parties that America will truly recapture its glory and reach its potential. Until then, we are left with “leaders” who attempt to paint a rosy picture while leaving the hard work for those who follow them.
