The Simpsons were right about Donald Trump. Everyone else was wrong

The Simpsons would like to say they told you so.

Back in 2000, during their Halloween series “Treehouse of Horror,” the animated comedy correctly predicted that Donald Trump would become President of the United States.

During the 11th season’s episode “Bart to the Future,” Bart Simpson travels to the future where he meets up with his sister, Lisa, in the White House to discover that she is now the president.

“As you know,” Lisa says to her staff in the oval office. “We’ve inherited quite a budget crunch from President Trump.”

Simpson then asks cabinet member Milhouse Van Houten how bad the budget is.

“We’re broke,” Milhouse replied.

“The country is broke! How can that be?!” Lisa asked.

“Well, remember when the last administration decided to invest in our nation’s children?” Van Houten explains. “Big mistake.”

While many Democrats and #NeverTrump Republicans are upset with the result of this election, it is quite satisfying to look at the longest running TV show in history to be a crystal ball of sorts into American politics.

No political pundit or pollster could correctly predict an election with such accuracy like the Simpsons (well, maybe, Bill Mitchell is an exception).

The Simpsons correctly predicted voter machine glitches, Apple watches, and Siri.

Gotta hand it to ’em. The Simpsons’ writers are geniuses.
