Feminists just turned a harmless statue into a symbol of ‘mansplaining’

Feminists have a knack for making everything about them and their grievances. In their minds, even this sweet, innocent statue of two kids flirting is just one huge symbol for THE PATRIARCHY.

As a non-crazy person, you may be asking, “Why? What about this seemingly harmless and nice enough depiction of a pleasant conversation is screaming ‘male oppression’ to some people?”

Yep. The feminist internet has turned this into a representation of “mansplaining,” after that tweet went viral.

“The sculpture just screamed mansplaining,” the woman who originally made the comment told the New York Times.

The artist who made the sculpture, however, was surprised to hear this.

Paul Tadlock, who crafted the piece for San Antonio’s University of the Incarnate Word almost 25 years ago, told the Times, “That [sculpture] was [done] in the early 1990s when my daughter was a student at the University of the Incarnate Word. In fact, that’s her. I sculpted her.”

While the Times naturally tried to prompt him to say that he maybe subconsciously made it about mansplaining, he did not agree.

“It was two students visiting, talking … implying nothing beyond that.”

Carl E. Myers, who does communications for UIW, said, “We are deeply saddened that this image of friendship has been misconstrued as a symbol of sexism on social media. Nothing could be further from the truth.”

And because the internet is terrible, women are already attempting to make similar observations about other statues around the country.
