Mormon college prohibits man-bun on campus

Sometimes, fashion really is a crime.

Brigham Young University-Idaho has qualified the “man-bun” as an “extreme style” in their honor code, banning the hairstyle on campus, according to New York Magazine.

It’s no surprise that the Mormon-affiliated school has a conservative dress and grooming code. The man-bun is the latest casualty in other non-traditional hair styles.

The Scroll, the campus newspaper, reported that the BYU-I Honor Office has “started enforcing disciplinary action” against the man bun, but doesn’t provide the number who have faced punishment.

Whether a man-bun movement will arise to oppose the restriction is yet to be seen.
