Last night on Saturday Night Live Seth Myers brought Sen. Marco Rubio (Taran Killam) on Weekend Update to comment on the awkward drink of water he took while giving the GOP’s response to the State of the Union.
“So what? My mouth got a little dry and I took a drink of water,” said Rubio (Killam) “We’ve all been there. You’re about to give an important policy speech. You get a little nervous in the greenroom and you eat a whole back of dry roasted peanuts and some beef jerky.”
“You do what anyone would do,” Rubio (Killam) continued. “You suddenly lunge to the side, all the while holding awkward eye contact with the camera and then you take a drink from the tiniest bottle of water anyone has ever seen.”
Rubio (Killam) proceeded to redo his GOP response, only to once again get choked up. Meyers promptly brought out a small bottle of Poland Springs brand water, the same brand Rubio drank during the night of his flub.
While many argue that this was an isolated incident, others have jokingly alleged that Sen. Rubio has a serious (water) drinking problem.
