In an effort to prove that he is a regular guy who you would want to have a beer with, rather than a televangelist who steals your money, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) appeared on The Tonight Show Thursday, and even took a call from his arch rival Donald Trump, played by Jimmy Fallon.
“Congratulations, you’ve just been called by Donald Trump,” Fallon said in his impression of the billionaire. “Are you watching the Democratic debate?”
“No, I’m watching The Princess Bride for the 834th time,” Cruz responded.
Fallon said that Bernie Sanders nailed Hillary Clinton for flip-flopping on trade, and added that the Democratic front-runner was going back and forth so much that it was like watching her try to use her MetroCard on the subway.
He then offered to ask Cruz some practice questions for his Tonight Show appearance, for example, how did he win all those delegates in Colorado without anyone even voting?
Cruz insisted that he won them fair and square because the state decided to cancel their primary last year, and the Texas senator’s campaign was simply better prepared.
“I think they did vote but they were so high they completely forgot,” Trump responded.
