Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) is safe today after his flight back to Washington, D.C., on Monday had to make an emergency landing shortly after takeoff.
The United Airlines flight carrying 40 people returned to the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport and landed without incident, according to The Greenville News. The pilot chose to make the landing after noticing an oil light indicator, an airport spokeswoman said.
“That team is adequately prepared, adequately trained, so the good news is that Lindsey Graham and crew were in good hands in terms of our team was standing by and ready to respond to that flight if the landing had been anything other than uneventful,” Rosylin Weston told the paper.
The South Carolina Republican tweeted about the unexpected return to the airport and thanked the first responders for their work.
