1. Nick Lachey
The former 98° frontman was just pegged to be the voice behind Wendy’s #pretzellovesongs. After launching the Pretzel Cheeseburger, the fast food company unveiled a Twitter campaign using the hashtag in an effort to reach out to Millennials. Wendy’s encouraged users to create their own 140-character bun ballads, which Lachey will perform via live stream July 8. And if you can’t get enough of this boy bander, he’ll be on tour with 98° all summer long.
2. Amanda Bynes
Though Bynes is making a comeback for all the wrong reasons, the What a Girl Wants star sure has dominated the headlines lately. She’s weighed in on a host of issues, from President Barack and First Lady Michelle Obama’s looks to her stance on marijuana usage — Bynes was arrested for allegedly throwing a bong out the window and possession — and Bynes shows no signs of stopping.
3. Jim Carrey
Sure, “Cold Dead Hand” didn’t get the Jim Carrey the best publicity, but hey, at least he apologized for calling gun owners “heartless motherf**kers.” And the Bruce Almighty star even has a new movie, “Kick-Ass2,” coming out next month. Granted, Carrey publicly backpedaled on his role in the film, but it’s his newest movie since the blockbuster “The Incredible Burt Wonderstone,” where he played a street magician.
4. Tobey Maguire
The “Spiderman” actor decided to shed his super powers and suit up to play Nick Carraway in this summer’s “The Great Gatsby.” It had been a while since Maguire shined on the silvers screen, but we think he’s back and better than ever.
5. Daft Punk
The 90s may have called wanting their music back, but we think we’ll keep it. The electronica duo Daft Punk teamed up with music extraordinaire Pharrell for the summer’s hottest song, “Get Lucky.” But after scoring a host of hits in the early 2000s and composing the film score for “Tron: Legacy,” Daft Punk left the mainstream music scene. But, with the release of their new album, “Random Access Memories,” we hope they’re here to stay.
