3 excuses liberals are giving for why Obama’s Berlin Wall speech was awful

In the mind of liberal pundits, Obama can do no wrong – including not being responsible for giving a horrendous speech near the Brandenburg gate in Berlin, Germany Wednesday.

Although the president was speaking in Germany about the need for the U.S. and Russia to cut back on its nuclear programs, his attempt to mimic President John F. Kennedy’s infamous “Ich bin ein Berliner” speech failed miserably under the hot sun. Obama even had to take off his jacket and wipe away beads of sweat at times because of the heat.

It also didn’t help that Obama’s teleprompter wasn’t working or that he was speaking behind a bullet-proof glass wall to a crowd of just 4,500. When then-presidential candidate Barack Obama spoke in Berlin in July 2008, more than 200,000 people gathered to see him.

Nonetheless, liberals have come up with every excuse under the sun to protect their commander-in-chief from getting a bad rap over the speech, much like they did last October when Obama gave a horrible performance at the first presidential debate.

Below are three excuses liberals are giving for why Obama’s speech was so bad Wednesday.

MSNBC’s ‘Hardball’ host Chris Matthews: The sun was too bright for President Obama to read from his trusty teleprompters

NBC News Chief White House Correspondent Chuck Todd: It was too hot and the crowd was just too small for the President to feed off of their energy

CNN Chief White House correspondent Jessica Yellin: Because… Bush
