Carly Fiorina has 30,000 reasons to frown.
Despite saying, “I understand technology, which is a tool to both reimagine government and to re-engage citizens in the process of government,” her campaign team apparently didn’t.
CarlyFiorina.org was purchased by Michael Link, assistant director of digital strategy at SEIU, the website now features 30,000 frown faces. One for every person, she laid off while CEO at Hewlett-Packard. Link says he used his own money and time to create the website and had nothing to do with his job or place of employment.
The Fiorina campaign apparently didn’t learn from Rick Santorum’s campaign in 2012, when a website, containing the Senator’s name used it as a sexual pun. It became one of the top search results on Google. Ultimately the Senator was forced to address it and asked Google to take it down.
Ted Cruz also learned this lesson the hard way this year. On the morning of Cruz’s presidential announcement back in March, TedCruz.com featured a pro-Obama message on it.
Fiorina and other Republican presidential campaigns should take a note from Taylor Swift, who purchased all her domain names in order to prevent pornographic companies from drawing attention by using her name on their website.
