Millennial gentlemen do exist says the Network of Enlightened Women

In the era of #MeToo, dating apps, and Arie from “The Bachelor,” millennial women have started to wonder: Are there any good guys out there?

Lucky for all of us, the Network of enlightened Women is here to prove that chivalry still exists with the announcement of their 2018 Gentlemen Showcase winners.

Ethan Van Buskirk, a student at Colorado Christian University, won the College Category and Devin Sena from St. Augustine, Fla. won the Under 30 Category. [Sena is a Red Alert Politics contributor]

These two men beat out more than 100 other contestants in a competition that asked for young men [who] are polite, act with integrity, and treat everyone with the respect they deserve. These men of integrity rise above the trending misconception that all men are predators.”

Amy Smith, who nominated Van Buskirk, thought NeW’s description was a perfect fit for her friend. In her nomination letter, she wrote, “Along with all of the community work that Ethan engages in, he takes pride in paying attention to the little things, such as thanking the police officers on campus for their service, holding the door for others walking into buildings and caring for others when he notices distress, even if he is in a hurry and does not have much time.”

A compassionate approach to community is a quality shared by fellow winner Sena. His nominator, Sydney Cuthbert, wrote that Sena “is humble and is constantly going out of his way to help and encourage people. His pro-life stance speaks for all of it. He cares for the unborn child as well as for the mother and I think that speaks volumes.”

In addition to these positive characteristics, it’s also been confirmed that neither of these men have broken up with a woman on national television. Swoon.

Both winners earned $1,000 to support the charity of their choice. Van Buskirk chose the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, in honor of his brother Luke, who he calls a “life-long best friend and hero.” Sena contributed to a pro-life organization close to his heart, the Human Coalition.

“I chose Human Coalition because they employ an innovative and holistic approach towards changing the culture and protecting both women and their children from the pain of abortion. Through their specialized marketing campaigns, they reach abortion-determined women, then support these women financially, emotionally, and spiritually both during and after pregnancy,” Sena told Red Alert Politics.

It’s great to see these young men breaking the stereotypes that face millennial men by standing up for their values and fighting for good in their communities.

Perhaps gentleman Sena said it best: “The Gentlemen Showcase is an important competition because it changes the conversation surrounding men. In the age of the #MeToo movement, we need masculine, chivalrous men more than ever.”

Amen, Sena. Amen.
